About This Show

Goodspeed’s Festival of New Artists is the culmination of the two week-long New Artists Program which is held annually on the Goodspeed campus. The three new staged readings this year are:

Pearl
Wednesday, January 17th
A haunting re-imagination of The Scarlet Letter, in which Hester Prynne’s 12-year old daughter, Pearl, seeks the truth about her family’s mysterious past and, ultimately, her own true self. Book, lyrics and music by Katie Kring, and directed by J Ranelli.

Tinyard Hill
Thursday January 18thTinyard Hill is set in South Georgia in 1964. A rural blacksmith and his son work to find mutual understanding and acceptance in a world that is simultaneously shrinking and getting too large to ignore. Music by Mark Allen, and book and lyrics by Tommy Newman.

The Great American Race
Friday, January 19th
The life of the legendary NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt told against the backdrop of the Daytona 500–a stirring story of fall and redemption. Book, music and lyrics by Patrick Barry, and directed by Nona Lloyd.
