About This Show

Downhome boy from Lubbock, Texas, to rock and roll superstar, to the final days before the tragic plane crash… Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story takes us back to the 1950s and Buddy’s early days with the Crickets, their appearance at the famed Apollo Theatre in Harlem, his marriage, and, finally, his meteoric solo career as the highest paid recording artist of his day. The finale dramatically re-enacts Holly’s final concert in Clear Lake, Iowa, hours before he died. Backed by the 12-piece Clearwater Orchestra and other rock greats – Richie Valens and “La Bamba,” the Big Bopper and “Chantilly Lace” – Buddy brings down the house with his string of hits, “That’ll Be the Day,” “Oh Boy!,” “Maybe Baby,” and “Peggy Sue,” and the party raves on.
