Set in Chicago’s South Side during the 1950’s, A Raisin in the Sun revolves around the divergent dreams of and conflicts within three generations of the Younger family. Mama dreams of moving to a decent home as she’s received her deceased husband’s insurance settlement. Her son, a chauffeur, dreams of buying a liquor store and being his own man. Her young, liberated daughter dreams of medical school.
