New York City
The loosely constructed plot of Menopause the Musical introduces audiences to four women who meet in the lingerie department of Bloomingdale’s; each character is easily identifiable. Featured is the earth mother, a curly-haired hippie; the power executive, a strong black woman in a business suit; an aging soap opera star cloaked in frilly pink and an Iowa housewife visiting New York with her husband. These women seem to have nothing in common–except memory loss, hot flashes, night sweats, food binges, the hunt for the perfect black lace bra, not enough sex, too much sex–and more.
