An Evening with Veronica Swift

Veronica Swift has established herself as one of her generation’s iconic voices. Sharing the stage alongside some of the greatest talents in jazz since a very young age, Swift is a powerful and emotive scat singer with deep roots in bebop and the Great American Songbook, and she brings the same conviction to soul, rock, and even opera.

Swift grew up on the road with her parents, bebop pianist Hod O’Brien and vocalist Stephanie Nakasian, and recorded her first album at age nine. A second-place finish at the 2015 Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition led to a residency at Birdland and tours with Chris Botti and with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Her videos with piano phenom Emmett Cohen on the Emmett’s Place YouTube channel are among the most-viewed jazz videos on the platform. Her 2021 album This Bitter Earth earned a five-star review and the cover of DownBeat. Her new album, Home, traces her path from a Virginia farm to New York to California, and covers an expansive range of styles and genres, all of which she delivers with characteristic warmth, brilliance, and virtuosity.

Don’t miss this evening of swinging standards, boundless creativity, and burning bebop, delivered with a storyteller’s attention to every lyric.
