About This Show

The Crucible is a searing tale of whispers and shouts. A town rendered immobile and ultimately destroyed by gossip, innuendo, and lies. John Proctor, the man at the centre of the town’s religious mania, is by no means a saint, but when he sees fine women of the town and ultimately his own wife Elizabeth accused of being witches and being brought to trial, he must stand up to the prosecutors to stop the destructive power of this socially sanctioned violence.

Written as an allegory of the insidious spread and reach of McCarthyism in the early ’50s, Arthur Miller’s brilliant re-telling of the infamous 1692 Salem “Witch Trials” surely has even more potency and resonance today.
