About This Show

The Shaw Festival is proud to present Patrick Garland’s adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s famous essay, as directed by Micheline Chevrier. “A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction.” So speaks Virginia Woolf in a lecture on “Women and Fiction” that she gave at Girton College, Cambridge, in October 1928. With delicious irony and a wonderful grasp of history, she explores the position of women in society leading to the 20th century. Pamela Rabe stars as Woolf.
