Having been a chorus dancer, Michael Bennett understood the difficulties of the job. They were called gypsies because they traveled from show to show. Jobs were scarce and auditions were hugely competitive cattle calls. Members of the chorus were meant to be unnoticed and received the lowest pay.
Bennett made the chorus line the stars. He illuminated their lives, and delivered up their hearts and their love of dance. A Chorus Line is directed and choreographed by Kay Cole.
