About This Show

Women’s Work is an ongoing, bi-monthly series featuring live performances of dance, theater, music, spoken word and multi-media. Over 750 women of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and disciplines have shown work in these year-round shared bills. These showcases regularly sell out, thereby building an audience base and exposure for the performers. The next step is to be chosen for the annual Women on the Way Festival. Some women have taken the third step to full-length production runs in the Women on the Way (WOW) series. Because these women know they will be supported creatively and financially they are motivated to return to this home base with fresh work to hone. The series feeds into an existing network of organizations in the Bay Area who focus on women’s creative efforts and needs. It helps put these artists into circulation, creating impetus for new collaborations and networks with other performing and visual arts groups to share talent, resources and space
