The Train Driver
$40
A true story from Fugard’s South Africa about a white train driver, Roelf, who accidentally killed a black woman, who jumped in front of his train with a child strapped to her back. The gruesome images unhinge Roelf, who travels to the township’s “Potter’s Field,” where the “nameless” are buried to find some sort of peace. He encounters Simon, the black gravedigger, who buries the “nameless” asking where they are buried. Simon pretends not to remember and Roelf will not leave until Simon tells him. Thus, begins an uneasy relationship between the two men. In this desolate place, will Simon offer solace and does Roelf find redemption?
