New York City
Set in and around a high school, Edward Roy’s The Other Side of the Closet tells the story of five hormonally driven teens as they deal with the emotional fallout when one of them is seen coming out of a gay bar. The show is New Conservatory Theatre’s Tolerance Educational Theatre production. It is a theater-in-education piece, communicating vital information to teens grappling with issues of peer pressure, youth violence, self-esteem, homophobia, behavior norms, discrimination, stigmatization, identity, and friendship. All performances are followed by a discussion between actor educators and the audience.
Following its run at the New Conservatory Theatre Center, the play will tour Northern California schools.
