Steve Silver’s Beach Blanket Babylon, the world’s longest running musical revue, will celebrate its 35th anniversary by holding an extra special Steve Silver Foundation & Beach Blanket Babylon Scholarship for the Arts Finals at Lowell High School, Steve Silver’s alma mater.
The Steve Silver Foundation & Beach Blanket Babylon "Scholarship for the Arts," created in
2002 as part of its commitment to the arts, has grown into an event eagerly anticipated by
San Francisco Bay Area high schools and the community. Talented high school seniors
from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area are asked to send in a three-minute recording
of them performing in one of three categories: singing, acting or dancing. The top three
finalists in each category will perform their three-minute piece live at Lowell High School on
Monday, June 8th in front of celebrity judges and an invited audience made up of their family and
friends. One winner from each category will be presented with a $10,000 check towards their
higher education from The Steve Silver Foundation & Beach Blanket Babylon.
In addition to the finalist performances, the 35th Anniversary show will also include special
performances by the cast of Beach Blanket Babylon as well as a reunion performance of
previous "Scholarship for the Arts" winners.
