About the Show
The action is set simultaneously in an Algerian prison cell in 1954 and present day Vermont, where Kasbah doctor/poet turned U.S. Poet Laureate Andre Saïd is dying of diabetes. When Emily, a graduate student from an Eastern University, the dynamic quickly changes. The play jumps between the two time periods as characters seek the truth about the mysterious and indecipherable writing on the walls of the cell. Recollections Saïd’s prison term brings the story to a startling and unexpected climax.
