About the Show
In Yiddish and French with English subtitles, Le Grand Role is the story of Maurice and three of his pals, all struggling actors. The comedy springs into action when they learn that a Hollywood director is in town to film an adaptation of The Merchant of Venice in Yiddish. Their preparation as they try to convince the director that they are perfect for the role is hilarious. The film takes on an added dimension, as Maurice decides he must reassure his gravely ill wife that he has received the lead.
