Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City, this oddball romantic tale of sinners and saints – considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy – soars with the spirit of Broadway. The show tells the story of gambler Nathan Detroit, who bets high-roller Sky Masterson he can’t take the Salvation Army mission’s beautiful Sarah Brown to Havana. Detroit needs to win the thousand-dollar bet to arrange an underground floating craps game under the noses of the police. Meanwhile, his long-time fiancée, nightclub singer Miss Adelaide, makes him promise he’ll give up gambling and settle down. This winner of the 1951 Tony Award© for “Best Musical” received equal honors as 1992’s “Best Revival.”
