About This Show

“There are spirits all around us, especially during live performances. Our spirits never die: life is short – quick as paper burning – but in death, all people are equal.” This thought-provoking concept is at the heart of the Ghost Festival, First Voice’s annual storytelling series that recounts ancient Chinese and Japanese ghost stories. This year the Ghost Festival: Mermaid Meat and Other Japanese Ghost Stories will focus on five unique and powerful tales that explore the dilemmas of life that people around the world have grappled with for thousands of years. Obsessive greed, crimes of passion, and the abuse of power — these stories are found on the front pages of newspapers today, but they are also the foundation of ancient tales and ghost stories. Please note that due to mature themes and erotic content, this show is not for children under 12.
