Caryl Churchill’s Cloud 9 is a biting, witty, satirical farce set in 1880 in British Africa and in present-day London. The characters include Clive, a British functionary, his wife Betty (played by a man), their daughter Victoria (played by a rag doll), Clive’s friend Harry (a bi-sexual explorer), Mrs. Saunders, who runs about dressed in a riding habit, Clive’s son Edward (who still plays with rag dolls and is played by a woman) and Joshua – a black servant played by a white – who knows exactly what is going on. Arturo Catricala directs.
Tickets for the opening night performance are $35.
