New York City
Internationally renowned physical theater ensemble The Dell’Arte Company makes a rare Los Angeles appearance with The Golden State, a comedy of greed, lust and other American values based on The Miser. Playwright Lauren Wilson takes Moliere’s comedy of profit-driven family relations and turns it on its head, re-inventing his miser as an elderly California widow with a fortune stuffed in her bra, whose adult children are the desperate products of her fanatical hoarding. This is Moliere with the heat turned up, the stops pulled out and the women on top.
