At once brutal and tender, Roger and Vanessa peers into the intensely private life of two courageous and damaged people whose love for each other is matched only by their fear of abandonment. Roger is an ex-con, out on parole. Vanessa is Roger’s wife, a manicurist and the breadwinner of the house. The two frequently miscommunicate and engage in confessional games that are at once cruel and loving. We observe Roger and Vanessa in the pivotal moment of their relationship, as they are confronted with an imminent, life-changing event that will alter their lives irrevocably. Silas Weir Mitchell directs the U.S. premiere of Brett C. Leonard’s play.
