About the Show

The Ovation Award-winning Road Theatre Company presents Napoli Milionaria by Eduardo de Filippo, translated and adapted by Tori Haring-Smith. The play is a vibrant and human comedy about the rise and fall of the Jovine family in Italy during World War II. The ambitious matriarch, Amalia, shrewdly plots her family?s survival in the war torn and occupied city of Naples by dealing on the black market with her mattress stuffed with contraband. With a hint of farce and pathos, the patriarch of the family, Gennaro, becomes the soul of the play as he recognizes the horrors of war and the wrongs that they bring to bear on heart and family.
