About This Show

James DuMont returns to the Theatre/Theatre stage in My Life as a DJ. This semi autobiographical story follows the life of DJ “Jimmy Dime.” Born
& Raised in Chicago, DJ Dimes roots trace back to the early days of Chicago’s own House music and the last days of Disco at New York?s famed Studio 54. At the age of 10, he was a DJ for school & church functions. At 14, he found
himself in New York assisting a Guest DJ at Studio 54. By the time he was 20, he was spinning at Danceteria, where Madonna was discovered and Djing private parties for Andy Warhol at the post Studio 54 hot spot, Palladium and almost ending his career at the Church of Disco, The Limelight. This coming of age story is of a young man who finds his power & identity through music, taking us all on a journey of our own, as each song brings us right back to where we were from 1970-1990.
