About This Show

The chorus presents the second concert of the season, Lush Life, The Music of Billy Strayhorn, with arrangements by Alan Broadbent and direction by Joanna Gleason. The incomparable Linda Ronstadt joins them onstage in what promises to be one of the premiere musical and theatrical events of the Los Angeles arts season. Featuring special guest artists Billy Porter & Tierney Sutton.

It tells the story of Billy Strayhorn — composer, Duke Ellington collaborator, and one of the first openly gay men of color in American music. Strayhorn’s music — from “Lush Life,” to “Take the ‘A’ Train” — has become part of our musical landscape. It is a co-production of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles and the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus.
