New York City
Ben and Joanie are an upwardly mobile “Yuppie” couple in their mid-thirties who are about to become parents for the first time. Ben (who is Jewish) works in television; Joanie (a quintessential WASP) is a would-be artist. As the play begins they are redecorating the dining room of their Manhattan apartment for use as a nursery, an activity that underscores the impending changes in their lives while reinforcing Ben’s uneasiness about it. Hilarious and at the same time thoughtfully cautionary, Ted Tally’s Little Footsteps examines the promises and perils of impending parenthood.
“…a total delight from beginning to end, as much fun as any Neil Simon comedy and yet even more inventive.” — Backstage
