About This Show

Shakespeare’s epic tragedy Hamlet reigns as the crown jewel of English literature, arguably the greatest play ever written. It has fascinated and enthralled audiences for nearly 400 years, and has become a rite of passage for serious actors from Richard Burbage and Edwin Booth to Laurence Olivier and Kenneth Brannagh. Rubicon’s first company member, Joseph Fuqua, assays the title role as the brooding Prince of Denmark.

Hamlet is haunted by the loss and possible murder of his father, the King, and wracked by the possibility of his mother’s infidelity. Rubicon Artistic Director James O’Neil plays Claudius and Stephanie Zimbalist is Gertrude. This classic is filled with large-scale emotions: love, hate, anger, revenge, prejudice, humor, jealousy, revenge and deceit.

The Gala Event on May 28 includes pre and post show festivities.
