About the Show

One of the world’s most acclaimed violinists returns for an intimate evening of Beethoven sonatas. When Gil Shaham plays Beethoven, he brings his A-game, “his fingers moving as quickly as his mind—dexterous but never too flashy, with a penetratingly rich tone that nevertheless could be spiky when needed” (Bachtrack). Shaham is joined by his longtime recital partner, Akira Eguchi, lauded by The New York Times as “a pianist of fluency and rectitude, whose sense of order even in the heat of battle…[keeps] the playing on its successful course.” Together, Shaham and Eguchi maintain “a fine balance between instruments, a partnership of equals, creating a sense of chamber-music intimacy that…[feels] thoughtfully conceived and effective” (Earrelevant). This series is generously supported by the Colburn Foundation.
