Friends Like These

About the Show

In Friends Like These, author Melissa Dylan explores the trials and tribulations, misunderstandings and misadventures that go along with struggling to make a friendship last. She immerses the audience in that friendship turmoil, then adds a deliciously wicked spin that results in the very blackest of comedies. Dave, is a seemingly normal guy who has gradually grown to live with the fact that he absolutely can’t stand any of his best friends. Despite this, he still finds himself meeting, week after week, for their traditional Wednesday dinner at Café Minnie’s. In essence, the irritation and tedium that the group inspires in him has, over time, grown somewhat comfortable. But when his friends collectively reveal that they are as sick of him as he is of them, his comfortably dull life begins to dissolve. Secrets are revealed and trusts broken, as the play corkscrews toward resolution. The final scene of revelations, brought about by Dave’s favorite waitress, Nathalie, is sure to combine side-aching laughter with “ah’s” of understanding. Whoever you think you are, you’re better off with friends like these.
