New York City
Marking his transition from Bohemian intellectual and part of the Beat literary movement to militant advocate and crusader for the struggle of Black America, Dutchman is Amiri Baraka’s Adam and Eve ritualistic allegory of mythical proportions. It incorporates his aggressive, often shocking style – notably the expressive use of violent imagery – with his Jazz influenced musicality. Written and first presented in 1964, Dutchman reflected, and participated in, the severe racial conflicts of the times.
In addition to the regular schedule, special $10.00 performances of Dutchman are arranged for Thursday, Nov. 9; Tuesday, Nov. 28 and Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 9:15 PM.
Recommended for Mature Audiences only.
