About This Show

Long Beach Playhouse Mainstage Theatre presents Don’t Dress for Dinner, a farce by Marc Camoletti, adapted by Robin Hawdon. Elaine Herman directs.

In a stylishly converted French farmhouse, Bernard is hoping to entertain his chic, Parisian mistress, Suzy, for the weekend. He has arranged for a cordon bleu cook to furnish gourmet delights, is in the process of packing his wife, Jacqueline, off to her mother, and has even invited along his best friend Robert as a suitable alibi. It’s foolproof, what could possibly go wrong…? Just about everything, and in the great tradition of French farce, this play hurdles along at the speed of light and is a near faultless piece of theatrical invention. Like Feydeau (the master of French Farce) on speed, this one will get your heart pumping and your nerves jumping!
