Betty Garrett, Closet Songwriter

About the Show

In her new show, Betty Garrett reveals a lesser known talent among her attainments: that of songwriter. Betty Garrett, Closet Songwriter will feature dozens of her original songs, most of them never before performed on stage.

Joining Betty on stage will be performers who are favorites of Theatre West audiences, among them Debra Armani, Daniel Keough, Jack Kutcher, Robert W. Laur, Barbara Mallory, Andy Taylor, Bridget Hanley (Nov.2 -Nov. 4) and Lee Meriwether (Oct. 26-28, Nov. 9-18).

Betty Garrett has earned iconic status as a performer. She has starred in a dozen Broadway shows, including the 2001 revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Follies as Hattie, and the original production of Meet Me in St. Louis. She was one of the great musical stars of the golden era of MGM, the only one to play a romantic musical lead opposite Frank Sinatra twice. She went on to star on television as a regular on Laverne and Shirley and All in the Family, for which she won a Golden Globe, and guest starring on other shows, including Becker, for which she received an Emmy nomination.
