In 1946, Lillian Hellman wrote Another Part of the Forest as a prequel to The Little Foxes. In 1880, Marcus Hubbard was a self-made man. His coldly rational perception that the Confederacy would lose the Civil War, and that there was money to be made from the better-off people around him, was the foundation of the Hubbard fortune. Another Part of the Forest is a look at the scheming Hubbard family some 20 years before The Little Foxes.
Another Part of the Forest is being presented in repertory with The Little Foxes. Together, the plays serve as a masterful dramatic account of a middle class southern family’s avarice and greed as they struggle to maintain position and power.
