New York City
The award-winning Deaf West Theatre Company brings back this American classic by popular demand. A Streetcar Named Desire, set in 1947 in New Orleans, centers on the explosive relationship of a frail, tragically lost soul (Blanche) and her boorish brute of a brother-in-law (Stanley). Because Blanche is a hearing person and Stanley is deaf, the relationship is complicated even further.
As with all Deaf West Theatre productions, A Streetcar Named Desire will be presented in American Sign Language with voice interpretation and projected subtitles for hearing members of the audience.
