New York City
A sexy and sophisticated tribute to the foibles of love, Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music weds unforgettable songs with a penetratingly witty script. Desirée, a famous actress, rekindles an affair with her former lover, now married to a dizzy wife half his age. Meanwhile, Desirée’s jealous current lover has an acerbic wife of his own to contend with. Rounding out this unforgettable cast of characters are a divinity student in love with his own stepmother, a retired mistress to the rich and famous, an on-the-make housemaid and an illegitimate daughter who asks too many questions. Did we mention that every musical number is set to intoxicating waltz time?
The cast includes Victor Garber, Judith Ivey, and Zoe Caldwell. Scott Ellis directs, Susan Stroman choreographs, and the orchestra is conducted by John DeMain.
The performance on Wednesday, July 28 is at 2 p.m. There is no evening performance on that date.
