About This Show

The 16th Annual New Works Festival presents directed and staged readings of four original full-length plays.

The Piaggi Suite by Diane Grant

Saturday, March 25 – 2 p.m

A monstrously self-absorbed and powerful diva visits a legendary New England musicians’ retreat and proceeds to disrupt the dreams, ambitions and loves of the resident musicians. In spite of her manipulations, “all ends well” in this delightful romantic comedy

Devil Dog Six by Mary Fengar Gail

Saturday, April 29 – 2 p.m.

Devil Dog Six is about raw, untamed ambition gone awry when our injured 18 year old heroine, Devon Tramore, a jockey, must deal with such issues as racial bigotry, gender equality in horse racing, family values, and corruption. What better than a horse race to exemplify the spirit of ‘racing to the finish at all costs’, even at the expense of personal ethics and integrity.

The Lost Book of Madeline by Cecilia Fannon

Saturday, May 27 – 2 p.m.

A woman and her daughter discover that the onset of dementia takes them into a re-discovered land where old secrets become new realities.

Rock, Paper, Scissors by Joni Hilton

Saturday, June 24 – 2 p.m.

When George Cavaro, an acerbic magazine editor in his fifties, is hospitalized for burns on his chest, he could never have imagined that his three roommates and two nurses would temper his attitude toward his loving, bubbly wife, his estranged children, his position at work, and his life. An uplifting drama with overtones of humor.
