About This Show

Thief River, which premiered at the Signature Theatre in New York in 2001, is an unusual love story spanning more than 50 years. In 1948, eighteen-year-old Minnesota farm boys Gil and Ray are engaged in a passionate, secret affair. But when their relationship is exposed, each is forced to chose different paths – one openly gay and one a traditional family man. In a series of beautifully woven vignettes, these reunited lovers confront the truth about themselves and the secrets that haunt them.

Playwright Lee Blessing returns to Barrington Stage where his plays Black Sheep and Eleemosynary were produced.
