Horse Trade Theater Group to Present The Imbewu Trust’s Tin Bucket Drum

Horse Trade Theater Group has announced that they will be presenting The Imbewu Trust’s production of Tin Bucket Drum, July 26 – August 4 at the Kraine Theater.

Neil Coppen’s play, directed by Karen Logan, follows the story of Nomvula, a spirited child with a revolutionary heart born into a country with a cruel and silent dictatorship. Tin Bucket Drum weaves together elements of magical realism, shadow puppetry, Kabuki theatre and live percussion while offering a fresh twist to the traditional conventions of African storytelling.

The Imbewu Trust’s seeks to promote South Africa’s cultural identity on the world stage by bringing innovative and inspirational local theatre pieces to international audiences.
