Donna Murphy to Be Honored at Abingdon Theatre Gala

Abingdon Theatre Company will honor two-time Tony winner Donna Murphy at its annual gala, to be held Monday, October 22, at the Edison Ballroom.

The evening will feature an all-star concert performance of the Maltby and Shire musical Closer Than Ever, directed by Chad Austin, choreographed by Deidre Goodwin, and musical directed by Kevin David Thomas. Casting will be announced in the coming weeks.

Also, Abingdon will open its 2018-19 season with David Greenspan's The Things That Were There, directed by Lee Sunday Evans. A coproduction with the Bushwick Starr, the play will run October 10-November 3, with a company made up of Greenspan, Evander Duck Jr., Caitlin Morris, Cesar J. Rosado, and Mary Shultz. It will have scenic and costume design by Carolyn Mraz and lighting design by Barbara Samuels.
