Cast of Encores! Off-Center Songs for a New World to Record Cast Album

Ghostlight Records has announced that it will record a new cast album of the recent Encores! Off-Center production of the early Jason Robert Brown musical Songs for a New World. Some of the stars of the production, which included Shoshana Bean, Colin Donnell, Mykal Kilgore, and Solea Pfeiffer, also tweeted and posted Instagram stories about the upcoming recording earlier today. The recording will be released this fall.

Originally conceived and directed by Daisy Prince, Songs for a New World was the first produced work of three-time Tony Award winner Brown (Parade, The Bridges of Madison County, Honeymoon in Vegas). This powerful collection of songs examines life, love, and the choices ordinary people make when faced with extraordinary moments. From the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to the ledge of a Fifth Avenue high-rise, these characters face new worlds that follow the unique challenges they encounter.

The Encores! Off-Center production at the New York City Center was directed by Kate Whoriskey, and featured music direction by Tom Murray and choreography by Rennie Harris.
