Ralph Fiennes’ Coriolanus Film to Premiere at 2011 Berlin Film Festival

Ralph Fiennes’ film version of Shakespeare’s Coriolanus will gets its world premiere at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival in February 2011.

Fiennes will play the title character, the Roman general Coriolanus who betrays his native city Rome and allies with his sworn enemy Tullus Aufidius for revenge. The film’s cast will also feature Gerard Butler as Afidius, Vanessa Redgrave as Coriolanus’ mother Volumnia, and Brian Cox as Menenius.

Fiennes was nominated for Academy Awards for his roles in The English Patient and Schindler’s List. Among his numerous other film credits are turns as Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter series. His many stage credits include his Tony Award-winning performance in Hamlet and his Tony-nominated performance in Faith Healer.
