The recent Broadway revival of John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men, which was filmed in front of a live audience at Broadway's Longacre Theatre by National Theatre Live, will be broadcast in over 700 North American cinema venues on November 6 and varying additional dates. Of Mice and Men makes history as the first Broadway show to be chosen for filming by the program.
Written by Steinbeck and based on his novel of the same name, Of Mice and Men tells the story of unlikely friends George (James Franco) and Lennie (Chris O'Dowd), who drift from job to job across California, never letting go of their dreams of owning an acre of land of their very own.
Of Mice and Men also featured Leighton Meester, Jim Norton, Ron Cephas Jones, Alex Morf, Joel Marsh Garland, James McMenamin, Jim Ortlieb, Jim Parrack, Michael Dempsey, Kevin Jackson, Erica Lutz, and Stephen Payne. The production ended it's Broadway run on July 27 and was nominated for two 2014 Tony Awards, including Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for Chris O'Dowd and Best Lighting Design of a Play for Japhy Weideman.
