It's Only a Play's new stars — Martin Short, Katie Finneran, and Maulik Pancholy — met the press at Sardi's on January 13, a week after taking over the roles of James Wicker, Julia Budder, and Frank Finger, respectively, on January 7 at the Schoenfeld Theatre.
It's Only a Play follows a group of theater professionals as they await the reviews of a new Broadway production at the show's opening-night party. The production officially opened on October 9 and will run through March 29. Beginning January 23, the comedy will move from the Schoenfeld to the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. It's Only a Play will have its final performance at the Schoenfeld on January 18.
Short, Finneran, and Pancholy replace Nathan Lane, Megan Mullally, and Rupert Grint, respectively. They join F. Murray Abraham, Matthew Broderick, Stockard Channing, and Micah Stock, all of whom remain in their roles. Jack O'Brien directs.
