John Guare to Make Off-Broadway Acting Debut in His New Drama, 3 Kinds of Exile
The Atlantic Theater Company production will also feature David Pittu, Martin Moran, Jeffrey Kuhn, and Alison Cimmet.
Drawing from the experiences of three exiles from Czechoslovakia and Poland, the work explores the complicated lives of a trio of artists in the West after having struggled amid cultural and political turmoil in Eastern Europe in the mid-20th Century. Joining Guare, the author of the plays Six Degrees of Separation and The House of Blue Leaves, are Peter Maloney (Much Ado About Nothing), David Pittu (CQ/CX), Alison Cimmet (The Mystery of Edwin Drood), Jeffrey Kuhn (Assassins), Martin Moran (All the Rage), Jacquelyn Landgraf (…Stage Directions of Eugene O'Neill), Kate Rigg (The Jammer), Omar Sangare (Six Degrees of Separation), and Timothy Splain (A Minister's Wife).
3 Kinds of Exile will feature scenic design by Takeshi Kata, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Donald Holder, and original music and sound design by Josh Schmidt.
Guare is also the author of Lydie Breeze, Bosoms and Neglect, Two Gentlemen of Verona the Musical, Atlantic City, and A Free Man of Color, among others. Pepe has directed the Broadway productions of Hands on a Hardbody, Speed-the-Plow, and A Life in the Theatre, as well as the off-Broadway productions of Parlour Song; Mojo; Dreams of Flying, Dreams of Falling, and many others.
