And you can't lower an audience's expectations much more than using the title of your work to warn your audience: "You're Gonna Hate This."

Lindsay Mendez and Michael Holland, who worked together on the 2012 Broadway revival of Godspell (Mendez performed in the ensemble while Holland provided orchestrations and vocal arrangements) will premiere their original musical revue, You're Gonna Hate This, on April 21 at Joe's Pub. Both conceived and performed by Mendez and Holland, You're Gonna Hate This will feature Holland's original music and lyrics.

Produced by Shoshana Feinstein, the two-person show is described as "a fast-paced original revue" that promises to explore "all the stuff we love to hate" — and does so with a 6-piece band. The music will blend together pop, rock, jazz, gospel, and of course, musical theater influences. Dave Solomon will direct, with Michael Borth lending musical direction.

And remember, you can't say you weren't warned.
