Broadway Producer George W. George Dies at 87

Broadway producer George W. George, who received Tony Award nominations for producing the 1964 biographical play Dylan and Alan Ayckbourn’s 1979 comedy Bedroom Farce, died on Wednesday, November 7 in New York City at the age of 87.

Over a 15-year span, George produced nine Broadway shows, including Muriel Resnik’s hit 1965 comedy Any Wednesday and the short-lived musicals Ben Franklin in Paris and Via Galactica.

Prior to his Broadway career, George wrote many television scripts, many with his wife Judy, who predeceased him. He also produced a few films, including Night Watch with Elizabeth Taylor and Laurence Harvey and My Dinner With Andre featuring Andre Gregory and Wallace Shawn.

George is survived by his daughter Jennifer. Funeral services will be held at 11:30am on Tuesday, November 13 at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel in Manhattan.
