London’s The Drowsy Chaperone to Close on August 4

The London production of the Tony Award-winning musical The Drowsy Chaperone, will close on August 4 the Novello Theatre. The show began performances on May 14 and opened officially on June 6.

As on Broadway, the show is directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw. The cast includes Bob Martin (Man in Chair), Elaine Paige (The Drowsy Chaperone), Selina Chilton (Kitty), Enyonam Gbsemete (Trix), Nickolas Grace (Underling), Cameron Jack (Gangster), John Partridge (Robert Martin), Adam Stafford (Gangster), and Summer Strallen (Janet van de Graaf). Steve Pemberton will take over the role of Man in Chair on July 10.

The Drowsy Chaperone has a book by Martin and Don McKellar, and a score by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison. The show’s Broadway designers — David Gallo (sets), Gregg Barnes (costumes), Ken Billington and Brian Monahan (lighting), and Acme Sound Partners (sound) — repeated their duties for the London production.
