André De Shields, Penny Fuller, Jeffrey Kuhn, Deven May, and Ruth Williamson will be among the performers at The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s 2006 Cabaret and Performance Conference, which will be held August 2-12 at the center’s Dina Merrill Theater in Waterford, Connecticut.

The conference will include Black by Popular Demand, a musical evening starring De Shields, who has appeared on Broadway in such shows as Ain’t Misbehavin’, The Wiz, and The Full Monty; Broadway veteran and Emmy Award winner Fuller in a program of classic cabaret; The Story of My Life, a new musical by Neil Bartram and Brian Hill, featuring May (who played the title role in the Off-Broadway hit Bat Boy) and Kuhn (whose Broadway credits include Assassins and Wicked); and Williamson, most recently seen on Broadway in La Cage aux Folles, in Pure Heaven, a show about the life of songstress Kay Thompson that was initially developed during the 2005 Cabaret Conference.

The conference will culminate in a grand finale in which up-and-coming performers will be showcased alongside the veterans. For a full schedule of events and other information, visit www.TheONeill.org or call 860-443-5378.
