Penny Arcade, Tammy Grimes, KT Sullivan et al. Set for Lower East Side Festival

Tony Award winner Tammy Grimes, cabaret star KT Sullivan, and performance art legend Penny Arcade will be among the participants in the 16th annual Lower East Side Festival of the Arts, to be presented at Theater for the New City, May 27-29.

The festival will feature over 100 performing arts organizations, local and international celebrities, independent artists, poets, playwrights, musicians, puppeteers, film makers and many others — all of whom reside, work or have their roots in the culturally diverse, willfully anarchistic Lower East Side.Events will include a special tribute to celebrated playwright Lanford Wilson, who died earlier this year.

This year’s participants will also include two aerial acts, Suspended Cirque and Constellation Moving Company; jazz great David Amram; talk-show host Joe Franklin; La MaMa E.T.C.; The Rod Rodgers Dance Company; The Love Show; Taylor Mead; New York Theatre Workshop; The Mariana Bekerman Dance Company; Kitty Lunn; Maya DeSilva Flamenco Dance Company; Take Wing and Soar Productions; and Tokyo Penguin, among others.
