Tony Nominee Nancy Opel Set for New Musical Comedy Curvy Widow

Curvy Widow begins performances tonight at George Street Playhouse. Peter Flynn directs.

The musical comedy features a book by Bobby Goldman with music and lyrics by Drew Brody. Nancy Opel stars as a fiftysomething widow whose adventures in the least expected places reveal unexpected truths about life, love, survival, and sex.

Joining Opel in the cast are Andrea Bianchi (As the World Turns), Aisha de Haas (Rent), Elizabeth Ward Land (Memphis), Ken Land (Promises, Promises), Alan Muraoka (Miss Saigon), and Chris Shyer (Mamma Mia).

The creative team includes Rob Bissinger (set design), Brian Hemesath (costume design), Matthew Richards (lighting design), and Ryan Rumery and M. Florian Staab (sound design). Wayne Barker is the musical music supervisor, with musical direction by Andrew Sotomayor and choreography by Marcos Santana.

Performances continue through May 21.
