Ayesha Antoine, Mark Morris, Maggie Steed, et al. Win TMA Awards

The winners of the Theatrical Management Association (TMA) Awards, celebrating the best of British theatre from around the United Kingdom, were announced in a ceremony held on November 7 at Lyric Hammersmith.

The winners include Maggie Steed who won the Best Performance in a Play Award for her work in Noel Coward’s Hay Fever at the West Yorkshire Playhouse. The Best Supporting Performance Award went to Ayesha Antoine for Alan Ayckbourn’s My Wonderful Day, seen at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in the U.K. and at 59E59 Theaters in New York.

Other winners include Anya Reiss, who received the Best New Play Award for Spur of the Moment, Laurie Sansom, who won the Best Director prize for Beyond the Horizon and Spring Storm, seen at Royal & Derngate, Northampton; and Louise Plowright who received the Best Supporting Performance in a Musical Award for her turn in Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. The Best Performance in a Musical honor went to the ensemble of Octagon Theatre Bolton’s The Hired Man.

Organizations honored include The Mark Morris Dance Group (Achievement in Dance Award), Royal Court Theatre and Drum Theatre Plymouth (Best Touring Production), and Paines Plough (Stage Award for Special Achievement in Regional Theatre).
