Christopher Connel, Deka Walmsley, David Whitaker, et al. Set for The Pitmen Painters U.K. Tour

Casting has been announced for Lee Hall’s The Pitmen Painters, which will launch a U.K. tour with an engagement at Theatre Royal, Windsor, running April 6-16. Max Roberts has directed the production.

Additional tour stops include Arts Theatre, Cambridge (May 16-21), Theatre Royal, Bath (May 23-28), Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton (May 30 – June 4), Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne (June 6-11), Theatre Royal, Nottingham (June 13-18), Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre (June 20-25), Grand Theatre, Blackpool (June 27 – July 2), Theatre Royal, Plymouth (July 4-9), Richmond Theatre, Richmond (July 11-16), Richmond Theatre, Richmond (July 18-23), King’s Theatre, Glasgow (July 25-30), Festival Theatre, Malvern (August 1-6), Tyne Journal Theatre (August 8-13), Palace Theatre, Southend (August 15-20), Grand Theatre, Leeds (August 22-27), Theatre Royal, Brighton (August 29 – September 3), Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells (September 5-10), Belgrade Theatre, Coventry (September 12-17), and Churchill Theatre (September 19-24).

Hall’s play, which takes its inspiration from actual events from the 1930s, centers on a group of British coalminers who discover that they have untapped talents as artists. The cast will include original cast members Christopher Connel, Deka Walmsley, David Whitaker, Brian Lonsdale and Trevor Fox, who are joined by new cast members David Leonard, Caroline Faber, and Viktoria Kay.
