Goodspeed Musicals has announced casting for Cutman: a boxing musical, to run May 13 – June 5 at the Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, CT. Bookwriter Jared Michael Coseglia will direct the production, which will feature choreography by Lisa Stevens and music direction by Andrew Sotomayor.
The show, which uses a story written by director Coseglia and Cory Grant and has music and lyrics by Drew Brody, centers on a young Jewish boxer who dreams of being the Welter-Weight Champion of the world, but finds that his lifelong dream conflicts with his faith when a title-bearing fight falls on the eve of Yom Kippur.
The company will feature writer Grant (Ari Hoffman), Robert Cuccioli (Eli Hofman), Laura Dean (Edi Hoffman), Mitchell Greenberg (Rabbi Roseman), Dennis Stowe (Moe Green), Garrett Long (Cantor Aviva), and Jerold Solomon (Lincoln), along with Joshua Boone, Jadi Collado, Ven Daniel, Albert Guerzon, Haley Hannah, and Joshua Keith. Additional ensemble casting will be announced shortly.
The creative team will include Adrian W. Jones (scenic design), Wade Laboissonniere (costume design), Jason Lyons (lighting design), and Jay Hilton (sound designer). Michael P. Price will provide orchestrations.
